How I went from Corporate Career to Living My Why, My Purpose…

“The stronger the why, the easier the how becomes” – Jim Rohn

November 2018, the morning I woke up and realized that, that was the day that my life was going to change, the day I knew I had to resign from the company I had been working for, for the last 24 years, the day I knew I had to leave the company I loved.  Even though I worked my way up the corporate ladder over the 24 years and even though I was a General Manager, I knew my successful career had to come to an end.

I had noticed a shift in myself for about a year and a half leading up to this day, it’s as if I was slowly but surely realizing that I wasn’t living my true purpose and that my purpose, my why had to be shared with more than just the team I was working with.

It’s almost as if that last year and a half was a giant puzzle and slowly but surely the puzzle pieces were falling into place.  The morning I woke up and knew I had to make the change was the final puzzle piece, my puzzle was complete and the time was now.

“Making a big life change is pretty scary. But, know what’s even scarier? Regret.” GIRLTEREST

Was the thought of leaving after 24 years scary, yes it was but after a lot of soul searching, chats with friends and prayer, I closed my eyes and jumped.  I knew deep down that I could and would do it, I knew that I could and would make a success of this because my will to want to make a difference and make this work was so strong.

I knew exactly what I was going to do. Becoming a Leadership Development Coach and Speaker would be my future, my passion, my why and my purpose. Coaching, encouraging and developing others would be my goal. Every part of me knew what I needed and wanted to do and that was to develop authentic leaders which would result in employees once again becoming engaged, something the corporate world needs.

My core focus, helping organizations develop and coach their current and future leaders, helping them develop authentic game-changing leaders.

It’s about time that current and future leaders know the meaning of the word leader, that before employees are promoted into a Management/Leadership position they receive the tools to be a leader, it’s about time current Managers/Leaders know how to be leaders, it’s about time that employees stop resigning because of their Managers/Leaders. It’s about time that organizations step up to the plate and do the right thing.

“Customers will never love a company until the employees love it first.” Simon Sinek

One thing I can tell you is that starting a business from scratch is by no means easy. You learn so much about yourself and humankind. All the passion and purpose in the world could not prepare me for this, but as each day went by the light at the end of the tunnel shone brighter and brighter. Hard work and remaining humble has been a very important part of my journey and when times get tough I remained focused and just pushed through knowing that the sun would always rise the next day. The final result, the victory, the change in the leaders, teams and organizations that I had started working with was all worth it. My dream, my purpose was coming true, I do make and will continue making a difference.

I am exactly where I am meant to be, doing what I am meant to be doing.  Living life one day at a time always keeping my eye on the end goal and making sure that my clients remain focused on their goals so as to ensure that they achieve them.

“Work hard, be humble, and stay kind.”

“Take care of your employees and they will take care of your business.  It’s as simple as that.” Richard Branson

On a more personal note…

I am a daughter, mother, sister & friend…

My Dad is from Madeira & my Mom South African, God handpick these two souls to be my parents.  They taught me valuable life lessons & a work ethic that I live by. Sadly my parents are no longer alive, but I know that they are always with me.

I am “Mother” to a son as well as two dogs. My love for them is never ending. They are my happy place, they are my North, South, East & West.

My family & friends mean the world to me.  I don’t have a very big tribe but all those in my tribe are people I would go to the ends of the earth for.  The encouragement that they have given to me & still give to me is indescribable. They keep me grounded & are always honest with me, they are truly one in a million.

I love travelling, as did my Mom so she showed me a lot of our beautiful country, I have also travelled overseas, my favourite cities being Cape Town & Edinburgh but I would say seeing the White Cliffs of Dover has been the highlight of my travels. I love talking, laughing, reading, music, walking & dancing.  I couldn’t imagine a world without books & music, they are both food for my soul.

My relationship with God is extremely important to me, I am grateful for each new day he gives to me, each new opportunity I get & for his love. I know that all I have is because of his love for me.

Animal cruelty & child abuse are both close to my heart. I try my utmost best to live life as the best version of myself, trying to help those around me who need my help.

I love life & I love living life, I am grateful for everything I have & all the amazing people in my life.

Ciao
